REVIEW: Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation

Hi everyone! This is my first blog post and I’m extremely sorry if it doesn’t turn out pretty or perfect, but experience will do the job! Today I’m writing a review about a fairly new Benefit foundation: Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup.

From the Benefit Website:
Hello…it’s flawless time! Our new oil-free brightening liquid foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion you can believe in. It’s you…just more luminous & healthy looking.
WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • broad-spectrum SPF 25 PA+++ protection**
  • oil-free formula
  • natural finish
  • hydrating benefits
  • light-diffusing properties
  • available in 9 shades (mine is in IVORY)
**What does PA+++ mean? SPF stands for the protection grade of the UVB filter. PA stands for the protection grade of the UVA filter. The highest standard of sun protection rating is the three-star PA rating. Our foundation has three stars, which translates to the highest protection.
INGREDIENTS: Active Ingredients / Ingredients Actifs : Octinoxate 5.49 %, Titanium Dioxide 2.37 %. Other Ingredients / Autres: Aqua (Water), Dimethicone, Glycerin, Phenyl Trimethicone,Isododecane, PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate / Dicaprate, Pentylene Glycol, Maris Aqua (Sea Water), Phenoxyethanol, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Silica, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Stearic Acid, Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate, Alumina, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propylene Carbonate, Prolinamidoethyl Imidazole, Saccharomyces Lysate Extract, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, BHT. [+/- : CI 77002 (Aluminum Hydroxide), CI 77007 (Ultramarines), CI 77163 (Bismuth Oxychloride), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77891 (Titanium Dixoide)].
Packaging:
The packaging is quite simple (I’m sorry I didn’t keep the box… boo!) but really cute, at least in my opinion: the bottle is a satin cylinder with printed writings in a cool font. The cap clicks shut and it has a sticker on top covered in 02s (it stands for oxygen). This foundation has a pump, which is really hygienic and convenient.

My Idea:
This foundation is pretty good but definitely far from perfect: having combination to oily skin and liking dewy-luminous finishes, my life is basically a quest for the Holy Grail face make-up. The things I like the most in this foundation are the coverage and the finish: it looks quite runny, but it offers a very nice coverage even if applied with your fingertips, and it is very buildable without looking cakey. I always prefer not building it up and adding concealer wherever I need. It applies very smoothly, it feels and looks like nothing, leaving a natural glow on your skin (probably thanks to the light-reflecting particles). I have to set it with a powder and a setting spray, but these are steps I always do, whichever foundation I’m using. It doesn’t break me out and I have really sensitive skin. The cons are few but still there: it doesn’t last perfect for the entire day (it stays perfectly put for 6 hours or so) and it gets –at least on my skin- almost oily at the end of the day. It is also quite expensive.

Comparisons:
I find it really similar in formula to Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, even though this has more coverage and it is definitely more buildable.

Overall Thought:
I give to this foundation 4.3 out of 5 stars: the formula and look is totally perfect for me, I only wish it was more long lasting. I will probably repurchase it.

Retailing info:
Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup is a permanent addition to the brand’s line. It retails at US$34 at Sephora, Benefit Counters or on the Benefit website.

Would you wear it? x
